About the book:
Too Too Many Tutus by Suzanne Davis Marion
Publisher: BookSurge Publishing
Date of publish: Feb 24, 2009
This charming book is the story of a little ballerina who cannot decide which tutu to wear to her ballet class. Christina has too many tutus in different colors but she can only wear one at a time. She asks her family for advice, and lays out all her tutus on her bed to help her decide. She looks at each tutu and imagines how she can dance in it. Christina thinks about the green of the leaves and grass, the pink of roses, the orange of fire and sunset. Finally, she picks the white tutu because white has all the colors in it.
The book is beautifully written and illustrated, and will appeal to adults and kids alike. I loved the pastel illustrations by Houston artist Marj Hales. Christina's imagination takes readers on a visual trip through the colors of her tutus. Words and pictures go hand in hand to describe the beauty of all colors and nature. My preschooler enjoyed listening to the story, and asked for the book every day. She started asking questions about what else is green, blue, pink, orange, and so on. We talked about where a ballerina can dance, and what our favorite colors are. The book inspired conversations about colors and choices, and I can see us reading it many times.
Too Too Many Tutus would be a favorite addition to a child's book collection. You can purchase it here, or at book retailers.
