Goat Milk Stuff Soap: Review and Giveaway (4/12) CLOSED

Sunday, March 22, 2009 Posted by Dina

About the Company

Goat Milk Stuff is a family-owned business in rural Indiana. The Jonas Family has 8 children and lives on a 3 acre homestead. PJ and Jim Jonas started making soap about four years ago because they wanted to avoid using chemicals on the children’s skin.

The Jonas Family is made up of Dad (Jim), Mom (PJ), and the children - Brett (12), Colter (10), Emery (8), Fletcher (7), Greyden (6), Hewitt (4), Indigo (3), and Jade (1). All members of the Jonas family are involved in the soap making process – from milking the goats to bagging the soap.

Each bar of soap contains over one ounce of raw goat milk. The Alpine goats that produce the milk are not fed any antibiotics or growth hormones. Goat Milk Stuff use natural fats, coconut oil and olive oil to make their soaps. The colors of the soaps do not come from dyes or synthetics but from natural compounds and herbs. The soaps are scented with high quality essential or fragrance oils.

My Review

I first heard of Goat Milk Stuff and their soaps at the Berries and Cream Blog Design. I won their giveaway – thank you, Revka! – and was the lucky recipient of three bars of goat milk soap. It was really hard to pick just three out of all delicious fragrances! I chose oatmeal, milk and honey, mango, and OMH (oatmeal, milk and honey) scrub.

When I got the soaps in the mail, I was on my way to run some errands, so I left the open box in my car for a couple of hours. On my way home, I noticed the car smelled really nice. It was the soaps – their scent filled the car, light and so pleasant, I just wanted to keep driving around!

Each soap comes packed in a reusable muslin drawstring bag which keeps the soap’s scent even after the soap is removed. The bag is stamped with the company name on one side and the fragrance on the other. I kept one in my car because I liked the scent so much. The second one is now in my socks drawer, and the third in my linen closet.

I have dry sensitive skin that gets even drier in winter. I have tried a variety of soaps, shower gels, moisturizers, without so far finding one that does not dry out my skin. Goat Milk Stuff’s soaps are far superior to any commercially available soap I have used. After using the goat milk soap, my skin feels soft and moisturized, making lotions and creams unnecessary. The soaps produce just the right amount of creamy lather, and leave my skin softly scented. My kids love the soaps too – my preschooler calls them Mommy’s yummy soaps! Bath time is more popular than ever, thanks to Goat Milk Stuff.

I also received a couple of soap samples that I shared with my girlfriends. They both loved the soap, boasting how soft their skin got when they used it and how wonderful it smelled.

I highly recommend Goat Milk Stuff soaps. They are the perfect addition to any spa-themed gift basket and would make a much-appreciated hostess gift. Your friends and family will love them as much as mine did.

Buy it! You can buy these wonderful soaps from Goat Milk Stuff’s online store, or find them at various local markets – check if there is one close to you here. At $5 for a 6-ounce bar, they are a bargain – and your skin will thank you.

Win it! One extremely lucky reader will receive three bars of Goat Milk Stuff handmade soap, their choice of scents. To enter, please visit their website and comment below which three soaps you would choose.Please include your email address if not visible in your blogger profile.

For extra entries, you can do one or all of the following - please leave a separate comment for each:

Oliver's Labels: Review

Sunday, March 22, 2009 Posted by Dina

About the Company
Oliver’s Labels is a Canadian-based company that manufactures and sells personalized labels. Their products are made from waterproof, weatherproof, and scuff-resistant materials. Oliver’s Labels offer iron-on clothing labels, bag tags, shoe labels, and self-adhesive (sticky) labels. All labels can be personalized with your child’s name and preferred design. The kid-friendly designs currently available are:

  • Animal faces

  • Butterflies

  • Dinosaurs

  • Fantasy

  • Flowers

  • Nature

  • Outer space

  • School

  • Sports

  • Toy animals

  • Transportation

  • Color palettes without images
They also have several fashion designs that are not available on Stick-eez clothing labels, as well as allergy designs available on original labels and bag tags. Monograms are yet another option.
My Review
I received a set of Oliver’s labels personalized with my daughter’s name with the nature design. There were several original labels, mini labels, Stick-eez clothing labels, and a set of shoe labels. I was impressed by the quality of colors and materials they used. The labels attached securely and showed no wear after several days. The labels stick on nearly anything and help keep your kids’ belongings out of the lost-and-found pile.
My daughter and I both really liked the birds, flowers, and animals that were pictured on the labels. She thought it was really cool to have the labels on her shoes and clothes. The sticky labels performed well in the laundry and the dishwasher.
What sets Oliver’s Labels apart from similar products I have tested is the excellent quality and their unique Found-It Tracking System. You have the option of having a numeric code printed on your labels. When an item is found, the person who found it can go to Oliver’s Labels website – also printed on the labels – and enter the code, thus notifying the company that your item has been found. Then Oliver’s Labels will send you an email, acting as an intermediary between you and the finder. To me, there is definitely an advantage in not having to disclose any personal information on the labels. At the same time, your kids’ stuff has excellent chances of being returned to you.
Finally, as a mom who is concerned about the future of our planet, I think it’s great that all of the machines Oliver’s Labels use in the production of their labels are eco-friendly.

I highly recommend Oliver’s Labels to any parent who wants to make sure that the items our kids lose find their way back home.

Country Bob's All Purpose Sauce: Review and Giveaway (3/31) CLOSED

Monday, March 16, 2009 Posted by Dina

When I was contacted by Country Bob’s recently to review their All Purpose sauce, I quickly agreed. I had been reading rave reviews, and seen delicious recipes on their website. I could not wait to try it out myself.

According to the Country Bob’s website, the original recipe for the All Purpose sauce goes back to 1968. In addition, “it is the perfect complement to practically any meal set on your table”. The company is committed to offering their customers the best tasting and highest quality products.

I received two bottles of Country Bob’s All Purpose Sauce, and was impressed by the product taste and versatility – there are many recipes, right there on Country Bob’s website, that you can use the sauce in – or, of course, add it to your own recipes.

I tried the sauce first with sweet potato fries, one of my family’s favorites. The sauce had a pleasant spicy tang, and was full of aroma.

The next day, I used it to spice up some turkey burgers – my husband and kids loved it. We also tried the sauce in one of Country Bob’s recipes, the 24 Hour Chili. It turned out great, and the chili is now long gone.

Besides their flagship product, Country Bob’s offer Spicy All Purpose sauce, BBQ sauce, and seasoning salt.

I found the All Purpose sauce at my local Kroger. You can buy their products online, or go to the retail locations page to find the store nearest you. I was excited to discover that you can not only find a wide selection of recipes on Country Bob’s website but also order a nice hardcover cookbook with recipes featuring the “World’s Greatest Sauce”.

Win It! Two lucky winners will each get 2 bottles of the All Purpose Sauce, courtesy of Country Bob’s.

To enter, please visit Country Bob's and comment below what dish from their vast recipe collection you would use Country Bob’s on. Please make sure to include your email address, if it is not visible on your blogger profile.

You’ll get one extra entry for doing any or all of the following – please leave a separate comment for each:

- follow my blog (see right sidebar);
- subscribe to my feed (see right sidebar);
- blog about this giveaway linking to this post and to Country Bob’s;
- email three people about this giveaway and copy me;
- follow me on twitter (see right sidebar);
- tweet about this giveaway and comment with the link to your tweet – you can do this once a day;
- add my blog to your Technorati favorites (see right sidebar).

The deadline to enter is March 31, 2009, 11:59pm EST. Valid for U.S. mailing addresses only.

Two winners will be randomly selected and notified by email. You will have 72 hours to get back to me; or another winner will be chosen.

First Five

Wednesday, March 11, 2009 Posted by Dina

I got this idea from Louise at MomStart here.

This is open to anyone!

The first FIVE people to respond to this post will get something made by me!

I get to chose what it is, and make it just for YOU!

However, this offer does have some restrictions and limitations.

1- I make no guarantees that you will like what I make!
2- What I create will be just for you.
3- It will be done this year. (before December 31, 2009!)
4- You have no clue what it's going to be.

There is one little catch. You must re-post this on YOUR blog, facebook, or whatever you use to contact the masses and make the same offer to the first 5 people who respond on your blog entry, thereby continuing the fun! (Keep it local if you would like, however you want to do it is fine.)

The first 5 people to leave a comment telling me they will be posting this on their blog will win a special something made by me!

Be sure to post a picture of your handmade prize when you get it!
