The Spring Green #14: The Cream Perfume Company Review and Giveaway (Ends 4/15) CLOSED

The body moisturizers I received from The Cream Perfume Company are creamy, thick, and make my hands happy. They are certified organic by Ecocert and come in three scents: coconut, rose, and lavender. These fragrant lotions contain pure naturally derived oils and extracts and premium French certified organic essential oils. The moisturizers are 100% vegan and have no parabens, sulphates, phthalates, petroleum-based ingredients, synthetic additives or artificial colors and fragrances. They pamper my skin while relieving dryness.
My favorite among the three moisturizers is the lavender. It's a very pleasant scent without being too strong, and it felt wonderful on my skin. The rose body lotion is a strong flowery fragrance, and if you like rose, you'll love this one! Finally, the coconut moisturizer is an unobtrusive, delicate lotion that is likely to blend harmoniously with the scents of your other cosmetics.
The lotions can be layered with the organic solid perfumes of the same scent. These solid perfumes come packaged in adorable nut-shaped wooden jars that would fit perfectly in your purse or makeup case. There are 10 different fragrances - from apricot through rose to ylang-ylang. I tried the apricot chypre, melon d'eau, and ylang-yland d'amore. Among the three, the apricot is my favorite. It's feminine, light and fruity and blends black currant, apricot, green notes, lilly of the valley and raspberry, with undertones of jasmine, sandalwood and musk. The ylang-ylang is a deeper, passionate scent, and the melon is a nice summery fragrance that mixes orange, melon, violet, jasmine and lilly of the valley. Just a dab on my wrists was enough for a nice, long-lasting fragrance. If you've never tried solid perfume, you really should - and look no further than The Cream Perfume Company. Finally, I could not resist quoting these interesting tidbits about perfume from the company's website:
It is believed Egyptians were the first people to incorporate perfumes (primarily natural incense and ointments) into their culture around 3000bc. The methods of extracting natural scents, although primitive by comparison, were technically not much different than they are today. Perfumes were often mixtures of oil and crushed petals or herbs until the Arabs later learned to extract oils from flowers through the process of distillation.
Strolling the cobbled streets of Grasse, past cafes, the Notre Dame du Puy cathedral and the 12th-century bishop's palace, a visitor would find it hard to imagine that this medieval Provencal town has assumed the mentorship role associated with today's billion-dollar perfume industry. With soil and climate that are perfect for fields of jasmine, tuberose and hyacinth, perfume has a long and storied history in Grasse.
