Tropical Traditions makes lip moisturizers using their wonderful organic virgin coconut oil, organic beeswax, and organic virgin palm oil. You'll notice that all ingredients are edible and certified organic, so they are safe to use on your lips - an important detail since some of the lip balm usually ends up in your mouth. The lip moisturizers contain no alcohols, no artificial fragrances, and no petroleum products. They come in five flavors: unscented, tea tree oil, cinnamon / peppermint, orange / cinnamon, and citrus. The scented varieties contain high quality organic essential oils imported from France which are distilled with low temperature and low pressure over an extended period of time. I learned from the Tropical Traditions' website that low temperature and lower pressure have proven to be the most effective method of obtaining all of the essential constituents from the plant, and provide the very best quality fragrances available.
I tried the unscented lip moisturizer and the tee tree oil version. The first thing I noticed was that they are not white but yellowish in color. This natural hue does not show on the lips. Just as the unscented moisturizing cream and unscented lotion from Tropical Traditions, the unscented lip moisturizer brings a faint flavor of coconut oil that I love. The moisturizer felt great on my lips, and my kids liked it, too. It provided much needed protection against the cold weather and left my lips feeling nourished and pampered. This variety tops my list of favorite lip balms!
The tea tree oil lip moisturizer is identical to the unscented one except for the organic essential oil of tea tree that is added for scent. I like the flavor of tea tree, and enjoyed using this lip balm. Check out the entire line of fabulous Tropical Traditions' organic skin care products on their site.
Right now, Tropical Traditions' lip moisturizers are on sale! The unscented costs $2.50 and the scented varieties are $2.75 each. That's over 20% off the regular retail price.
