Dr. Hess Products: Review

Thursday, May 27, 2010 Posted by Dina N

Dr. Hess products have been around for over 100 years. Originally developed for cow's udders in the early 1900s, today Dr. Hess products include skin ointments and lip balms to help treat dryness, eczema, diaper rash, burns, abrasions, and more.

I tried several Dr. Hess products, including the Dr. Hess Udder Ointment, Dr. Hess Udder Ointment for Baby Butts, and Dr. Hess Udder Stick, a.k.a. lip balm. Dr. Hess Products contain natural skin healing ingredients, such as lanolin, beeswax, olive oil, vitamin E, jojoba seed oil, and shea butter. The Udder Ointment is very effective in treating the dry skin on my hands. It absorbs quickly, with no greasy residue, and although the scent is somewhat medicinal, it's pleasant enough. I also tried the ointment on my daughter's eczema, and it helped ease the itching and dryness of her skin.

Dr. Hess Udder Stick comes in four flavors: original (vanilla), mango, pomegranate, and vanilla mint. The lip balm provides SPF 15 sun protection - something that is important to me year-round but especially in summer months. The lip balm is rich and creamy, and feels very pampering on my lips. I love all four flavors - but if I had to pick just one favorite, it's the mango.

    Interesting product!

I really like the ingredients. I look for products that contain beeswax, olive oil and shea butter. I have heard that lanolin is also good.

    Thanks !
