The Spring Green #25: Biokleen Review and Giveaway (Ends 5/17) CLOSED
A few years ago, I bought my first eco-friendly detergent - a laundry powder made by Biokleen. The name was new to me but after researching extensively various brands, I picked this product because of the great customer feedback I read. It did not disappoint!
Biokleen was founded over 20 years ago by Jim Rimer. A former sales representative of cleaning chemicals, Jim became increasingly aware of the dangers of the products he was selling and the ingredients they contained. He chose to make a difference and formulated his first cleaner using natural, non-toxic ingredients. Today Biokleen continues to develop and create innovative products that are effective, non-toxic and safe for the environment. In addition, they are never tested on animals and contain no animal ingredients.
I tried two of these products - the Premium Plus Laundry Powder and the Bac-Out Drain Care. The laundry powder contains grapefruit seed and orange peel extract that provide a wonderful scent I noticed as soon as I opened the box. This is now my favorite laundry powder smell! The detergent is phosphate-free and contains oxygen bleach. I found the powder worked very well in cold and in warm water. My clothes came out clean and smelled great. Since my skin is very sensitive to detergents, I was happy to find out that the Biokleen Premium Plus Laundry Powder did not leave any irritating residue. The powder can be used in top-load as well as in front-loading (HE) washers. It is concentrated and a 5 lbs box will launder 54 or 108 loads depending on whether you have a regular or a high-efficiency washing machine.
The Bac-Out Drain Care is a new product for Biokleen that was just introduced in January. It comes in a 32 oz bottle and resembles a hair conditioner - in consistency as well as scent. This product is quite different from other drain products I've tried. It's a gel that coats your drains and eliminates clogs and odors. It contains enzymes and natural live cultures that work together to break down organic matter into minerals, water and oxygen. The gel has no artificial fragrance, colors or preservatives. Since I had a couple of slow moving drains at my house, I was excited to try it out. Unlike some other products I've used that had to be dissolved in water, the gel is poured directly into the drain. The Bac-Out Drain Care was very effective and I noticed a difference after just one application. My drains were not just flowing clean, they were deodorized! Biokleen recommends maintaining your drains by using the product a couple of times per week. The Bac-Out Drain Care also works well for garbage disposals.
The Premium Plus Laundry Powder and the Bac-Out Drain Care can be purchased online as well as in select stores.
