Epson printers have come a long way since then. I got a chance to try the Epson Stylus NX420 all-on-one printer. First, I have to say I love the design! All controls - including the "on" button - are on the left side, on top right next to the scanner cover. A large 1.5" display is there, too. I love that I can scan papers and the kids' art work, copy and print on the same piece of equipment - no need to have a separate scanner / copier to clutter my desk.
The Epson Stylus NX420 has 4 scanning modes and 5 printing modes, and can even restore old, faded photos. In addition, it adjusts over- and under-exposed photos - great for those not-so-perfect but utterly cute family photos I seem to take all the time. It is one smart machine, too because it can distinguish people from scenery and enhance skin tones and the richness of the scenery! Those annoying red eyes? Corrected with a single click!
The Stylus uses 4 individual toner cartridges - one black and three in color: cyan, magenta, and yellow. That way, you don't have to replace the entire color cartridge just because one of the colors is low. The Stylus prints in beautiful colors, scans, copies, and is wireless! Hello, progress! Hello, freedom from annoying cables! Hello, printing from my laptop while sitting in the bedroom! Hello... well, you get the idea.
The Epson Stylus is also equipped with a memory card slot. That means you can print photos without uploading them to your computer. Just get some photo paper, insert the memory card from your camera, and print away. Speaking of photo paper, I am very impressed with the quality of the Epson paper samples I received. They have glossy, semi-gloss, and matte photo paper. My photos printed out beautifully. I am equally happy with the print quality of plain text and graphics. Oh, and Epson uses DURABrite Ultra ink for prints that are resistant to smudges, fading, and even to water!
Last but not least, the Epson Stylus NX420 is eco-friendly: Energy Star qualified, it's designed to be recycled - and can print double-sided pages to save paper.
If you think that a wireless all-in-one printer costs a fortune - think again. The Epson Stylus NX420 is the industry's first all-in-one with built-in wireless under $100. It would be a great and affordable addition to your home office, kids' study area, or junior's dorm room. Print recipes, family photos, schoolwork, scan and copy - all that with no cables! Hooray!
Right now, there is a $30 instant rebate when you purchase the Epson Stylus NX420 online from the Epson store. That means getting it for $69.99!
I know you want this baby! One person will win an Epson Stylus NX420.
