Music Review: Winter's Songs

Sunday, November 07, 2010 Posted by Dina N

Winter's Songs: A Windham Hill Christmas is a soothing, relaxing collection of ten holiday classics. They make me thing of a quiet evening, cuddled in front of the fire, or of the festive lights of a beautiful Christmas tree. Sometimes I see myself in a cabin in the woods, watching the snow fall soundlessly outside.

The pieces on this CD are purely instrumental, there are no words nor there is any need for them. The album is set back, an ideal way to create an atmosphere of quiet joy and contentment. This compilation will not take center stage during your celebration but will provide a calming background to conversation or a festive meal.

The album is in stores now, and features popular Windham Hill artists such as Liz Story, Alex De Grassi, Philip Aaberg and Jim Brickman. Central stage in this remarkable compilation take instruments like guitar, Celtic harp, arch lute, bass, bodran, piano, synthesizer, and others, creating a seamless, flawless musical experience.
