Skillet Bacon Jam, I was intrigued - despite the unfortunate name where the association of bacon and jam gives me indigestion.
The jam is not a jam but a spread - thank goodness for that. I would not want to eat anything that is a jam with bacon in it, gastronome adventurer or not. The product comes in a 13 oz jar - I received a smaller sample version. It costs about a dollar an ounce, and it's made from niman ranch bacon rendered down along with onions, balsamic and other spices. The spread is rather tasty on baked potatoes, and I also tried it in scrambled eggs. The spread is tangy and a bit sweet. If you are a fan of everything bacon, give it a try. Personally, I prefer the real thing - no need to spread it, and none of that jam - bacon association. Please, please market it as a spread. My inner gastronome will thank you.
