Organize Your Sink with simplehuman: Review

Thursday, December 23, 2010 Posted by Dina N

I've been a fan of simplehuman products since last year when I reviewed their Sensor Soap Pump. A couple of weeks ago, simplehuman brought a spa feel to my bathroom with the Bamboo Shower Caddy. And now my kitchen sink is all organized for the new year thanks to two smart products: the simplehuman Large Sink Mat and the simplehuman Slim Sink Caddy.

My sink is stainless steel, so the sink caddy and mat are a perfect match. The sink caddy is rust proof - something very important since it is in almost constant contact with water. It attaches securely to the side of my sink, thanks to four large suction cups and a wire ledge hanger. I tried several spots for it, and the best place for the caddy is the side next to the garbage disposal. With a simple squeeze of the hanger, I can adjust its height so the caddy is positioned just right on the sink. I can fit a sponge and a dish brush with room to spare. The caddy lets my sponge dry faster when not in use and keeps it stashed away nicely. My sink looks tidier, thanks to the slim sink caddy.

The large sink mat is a pretty shade of charcoal grey, with a stainless steel handle for easy removal. I've used a sink mat before but it got clogged with food particles, was a mildew magnet and did not do a good job protecting my sink from scratches. The simplehuman sink mat is raised above the sink surface so water can flow freely under it. The edges and corners are slightly raised and my dinnerware does not slip or hit the walls of the sink while I wash it. The mat is made of rubber that is soft enough to protect my dishes and glasses from chipping but also sturdy enough to last. In addition, the sink mat comes with a 5 year warranty.

The large sink mat is about 13x16 inches and it's recommended for large sinks. If you have a double sink, consider the small sink mat. A slightly larger version of the slim caddy is also available from simplehuman.

Now I am wishing for the stylish simplehuman bamboo frame dishrack - it will go perfectly with the bamboo banana hanger I bought two weeks ago. Or, since our kitchen sink is stainless steel, the steel frame dishrack would be a great match, too.
