Mabel's Labels: Review and Giveaway (Ends 2/14) CLOSED

Saturday, January 30, 2010 Posted by Dina

If you have children, you know that every school, preschool, and daycare insist on having all kids' items properly labeled. Sometimes, you may choose not to label at your own risk. I learned my lesson last year when my daughter's brand-new - and still unlabeled - winter coat walked away and was never found, despite numerous visits to the lost-and-found bin at her school.

Prior to discovering companies such as Mabel's Labels, I used a permanent marker to write my kids' names on their clothing, bags, and other belongings. A messy, unreliable, and rather temporary solution - it turned out permanent markers did not always survive close encounters with the dishwasher, washer and drier. And trying to fit a name on the tiny clothing tags was a pain!

I first saw Mabel's Labels products online, and fell in love with their cute designs. Mabel's Labels is a Canadian company, founded by moms who were frustrated by the amount of stuff that left their houses, never to return. Sounds sooo familiar! So they decided to create fun and durable labels for the stuff kids lose.

Mabel's Labels are dishwasher, microwave and laundry safe. The labels are customized with a child’s name, favorite mix of colors and an icon (animal, symbol, etc.). The company's product line also includes personalized stationery products, ID wristbands and household labels.

I was excited to try Mabel's Labels newest addition - the LOL (Label Out Loud) labels! Gotta love the clever name. The LOL labels come in packs of 45, and are relatively large at 2-3/4" x 5/8". You can choose from 20 fabulous designs, each in beautiful color combinations. I customized them with my kids' names and a butterfly design.

When I received the labels, I could not wait to try them out! I love the bright, happy colors. The set comes in three color combinations - yellow, green, and pink background for the name, and pink, purple and blue background for the butterfly. Plus, there are bubbles in the background! My kids wanted to start labeling everything right away. The print quality is superb, and the labels stay put even after repeated washing and laundering. We used them on jackets, bags, sippy cups, lunch boxes, toys - you name it, we've labeled it! After three weeks of use, the labels still look brand new. The labels are UV resistant, microwave and dishwasher safe, and look great on my kids' stuff.

In addition to the LOL labels, we received some tag-mates. These are smaller labels that fit perfectly on  clothing care tags. They stick securely, and survived numerous washes. These labels can also be customized with a name up to 20 characters and an icon, and come in raspberry or blue.

Needless to say, I have retired the permanent marker as a labeling tool and plan to use Mabel's Labels from now on.

The Giveaway
Mabel's Labels are generously giving away a set of LOL labels to a lucky reader of this blog!

Book Review and Blog Tour: A Highlander's Destiny by Mellissa Mayhue

Wednesday, January 27, 2010 Posted by Dina

Book Description
A HIGHLANDER'S DESTINY is the fifth novel in Mellissa Mayhue's beloved Daughters of the Glen series (can be read as a stand alone). A HIGHLANDER'S DESTINY takes readers in a journey through time with this love story between descendants of fae folk.

My Review
This is the first novel by Mellissa Mayhue that I've had the pleasure to read. While I have watched a few Highlander movies, I had not read more than a couple of books about Highlanders. A Highlander's Destiny is an pleasant mix of modern life and magic - faeries, time and space travel, and the like. Destiny is ready to risk everything to find her missing teenage sister. Jesse is looking for his true love, his soulmate, to make sense of his life. When their paths cross, Destiny and Jesse find everything they've been looking for - and more. Together, they face an ancient evil, grave danger, and a passion neither has ever known. Love, fantasy, adventure - it all makes for a fun, light read.

The Joy of Soap: Review and Giveaway (Ends 2/9) CLOSED

Monday, January 25, 2010 Posted by Dina

I love, love, love yummy soaps. When I came across a store aptly called The Joy of Soap, I thought - my sentiments exactly! Of course I just had to check out their selection. I was charmed instantly by soap names such as Lay Me Down Lavender and Two in the Shower Tea Tree.

I got to try samples of five of their soap scents: All Night Almond, Lay Me Down Lavender, Ginger Snap, Feeling Frisky, and Two in the Shower Tea Tree. The soaps come in two sizes - two and five ounces. The 2 oz. bars are the same shape, length and width as the larger ones, except thinner. My goodies arrived quickly, each adorably packaged in a cotton muslin bag. On one side, the bags are labeled with the scent, company name and the words "Pamper Your Skin. Indulge Your Senses". On the other side, there is a label listing the soap's ingredients. The soaps contain olive, coconut, palm and castor oil, essential oils - no mystery substances here! I found the soap scents I got refreshing and invigorating - with the exception of Lay Me Down Lavender which is more on the soothing side. They were gentle on my skin and produced just the right amount of lather. My favorite is the almond because of the light poppy seed exfoliation. All the soaps are handmade, vegan, cruelty free, and made in small batches. They are suitable for any skin type.

The Joy of Soap products are made with natural and organic ingredients, and ingredients derived from sustainable practices. The company uses certified organic base oils in the essential oil soaps as well as sustainably wild crafted, locally grown and organic exfoliants when possible.

I was impressed by their commitment to the environment. I already mentioned the packaging - these muslin bags can be reused around the house. The shipping materials are recyclable and recycled. Even the printing and labeling provider they use is a certified green company. The Joy of Soap use the USPS for shipping because they have the largest civilian alternate fuel vehicle fleet in the nation, and are the only shipping company that has earned Cradle to Cradle Certification for the eco-friendly design and manufacturing of its boxes and envelopes. The green practices extend to the office and manufacturing areas, as well.

Last but not least, I am excited to report that in the spring, The Joy of Soap will be adding scrubs, cleansers, and creams to their scrumptious soap line. I can't wait! You can stay in touch with The Joy of Soap on Twitter or Facebook.

The Giveaway
The Joy of Soap are generously giving away a $40 gift certificate to their store to a lucky reader of this blog!

To enter, please visit their site and tell me how you would spend the gift certificate if you won.

For extra entries, you may do any or all of the following:

Blog Tour, Guest Post and Giveaway: A Black Tie Affair (Ends 2/3)

Wednesday, January 20, 2010 Posted by Dina

Today, I am excited to host author Sherrill Bodine on occasion of her new book, A Black Tie Affair! She graciously agreed to guest post at Just Another New Blog. Welcome!

Guest Post by Sherrill Bodine
Thank you so much for letting me chat with you.  I'm in Florida at two book parties for A BLACK TIE AFFAIR and a book signing at a Books-A-Million in Naples. I met someone here who was trying desperately to reach relatives in Haiti.  His fear and concern put so much in perspective.  I send my positive energy to all of you who have friends and family in Haiti.  You are not forgotten - two of the charity boards I work within Chicago are actively involved with the relief effort and there are so many more reaching out.

It was wonderful to see the support offered by the Hollywood community in one of my favorite guilty pleasures - The Golden Globes Awards.  I've been watching The Academy Awards since I was five years old and the Golden Globes for as long as I can remember.  They fulfill my fascination with fashion.

I explore my love of vintage couture in A BLACK TIE AFFAIR and when I had the good fortune to attend Milan Fashion Week, my interest in current couture reached a zenith.  My friend, Dusty, is the mother of Brian Atwood, shoe designer and creative designer of Bally.  Brian made it possible for us to have third row seats at the Versace Runway Show and equally wonderful seats at the Gucci Show.

With my little bit of fashion experience I offer my opinions on the gowns at The Golden Globe Awards.

Women don't look any better than Helen Mirren, Sophia Loren, Meryl Streep and Jodie Foster in black gowns with fabulous necklines!  Elegant and sexy at any age.

I love what Tom Hanks had to say about the film. JULIA AND JULIE - "With passion, fearlessness and butter anything is possible."  That is exactly how I feel about writing and life.  xoxox Sherrill

Book Description
Fashion curator Athena Smith will do anything to get her hands on the Clayworth family's couture collection for her exhibit. So she's thrilled when she's called in to authenticate the gowns...until she falls ill while examining them and wakes up face-to-face with notorious Chicago bachelor Drew Clayworth.

Drew doesn't trust Athena one bit. He still believes she betrayed him years ago. So when his family's gowns go missing and Athena offers her help in exchange for the dresses, he reluctantly accepts. But they're both taken off guard by the barely restrained passion that's still between them...and the memories that are both bitter and sweet. As they work together to find the dresses, can they resist the sparks between them?

The Giveaway
Thanks to Hachette Book Group, FIVE readers will win a copy of A Black Tie Affair by Sherrill Bodine!

To enter, leave a comment sharing what your fashion style is.

You may do any and all of the following for extra chances to win:
  • follow me on twitter and tweet about this giveaway, feel free to copy and paste: "Win 1 of 5 copies of A Black Tie Affair by Sherrill Bodine #books #Giveaway ends 2/3 @aitmama #win http://tinyurl.com/ychuj4b" – you may do this once a day;

Book Review and Blog Tour: Knit, Purl, Die by Anne Canadeo

Wednesday, January 20, 2010 Posted by Dina

Book Description
KNIT, PURL, DIE is the newest entry in Anne Canadeo's Black Sheep Knitting series (don't worry... they can function as stand alones!). The Black Sheep Knitters are five smart, funny women who love to knit, gossip, and solve crimes. When a recently remarried friend of the fold - a cougar in love with her new cub, hubby #3-- is found floating in her own swimming pool, the circle gets to work unraveling the mystery.

My Review
I enjoyed reading this book. It is a pleasant and lighthearted read, in addition to being a mystery that kept me guessing till the end. The characters are depicted realistically, and the five women from the Black Sheep Knitters group are a lovable bunch that I would love to have as my friends in real life. Despite the cliched older woman - younger man relationship that is in the center of the murder and mystery, the story is more about these women and their friendship, and has quite a few twists and turns that make it fresh and entertaining. I have not read any other books from the Black Sheep Knitters series but they are on my list now!

Blog Tour and Giveaway: Denise's Daily Dozen (Ends 2/1)

Monday, January 18, 2010 Posted by Dina

Is getting in (better) shape on your list of New Year's resolutions? It is for me! Today, I am excited to participate in the blog tour for a new book that is helping me achieve my health and fitness goals for 2010: Denise Austin's Denise's Daily Dozen!

Book Description
From Denise Austin comes the perfect health book for anyone who wants to live better but just can't seem to find the time. Much more than just another exercise book, Denise's Daily Dozen covers a whole range of health and diet related concepts yet manages it all in a no-stress, time-conscious program of 12's. At it's core, this book contains the minimum daily requirements to keep the reader flexible, strong and trim. Organized simply into seven chapters, which equal the seven days of the week, it covers a full week in daily allotments. Each day will have it's own focus from Monday being "fat burning day" to Sunday's "recharge and rejuvenate."

Denise has created a total body program, including a 7-day balanced meal plan that includes healthy recipes, and a workout that encompasses 12 exercises done in 12 minutes each day. Everyone can take just 12 minutes, at whatever time of the day works for them, and turn it over to these simple and fun exercises. Cardio, toning, yoga and breathing exercises...they're all here but in a way the maximizes effect while minimizing time.

Beyond a dozen exercises for each day of the week this book will include many other of Denise's dozens for each day.

The Giveaway
Thanks to Hachette Book Group, FIVE readers will win a copy of Denise's Daily Dozen by Denise Austin!

Book Review: Cheating Death by Dr. Sanjay Gupta

Saturday, January 16, 2010 Posted by Dina

In November, I hosted a giveaway for Cheating Death by Dr. Sanjay Gupta, a new audio book by Hachette Book Group. Since then, I've had the opportunity to listen to it myself. You can find the publisher's book description in my earlier post.

This is an astounding book, not just because it shares some of the latest medical advances that allow doctors and their patients to cheat death. Not just because it describes fascinating medical discoveries in accessible, easy to understand language. Cheating Death shows that behind every medical miracle brought to us by decades of hard work, research, and sometimes a little happenstance, there are doctors and patients who persevered, even against impossible odds. Cheating death may involve seemingly simple things: a change in CPR routine, a cooling technique based on hypothermia, or just not giving up on life when everyone tells you there is no hope. At other times, cheating death requires medical feats that were deemed impossible in the past.

Dr. Gupta tells stories that are intriguing, often miraculous, leaving the reader stunned and in awe of the human body and spirit. Cheating Death is based on real cases, a documentary of sorts that presents events often quoted as they were told by the doctors and patients involved. The book poses interesting questions about life and death that involve facing complex moral as well as medical dilemmas.

If I were reading Cheating Death in print, I would say it was a pageturner, impossible to put down. Since I listened to the audio book edition in the car, I found myself just sitting there long after I had arrived at my destination, just to hear what came next. Read this extraordinary book - then stop to really think about what you learned. I know I will be thinking about it for a long time.

Disclaimer: I received a complimentary review copy of this audio book without any obligation to write a positive review. The opinions expressed in this post are mine and may differ from yours.  Cover image courtesy of Hachette Book Group.

Tropical Traditions Organic Shredded Coconut: Review and Giveaway (Ends 1/26) CLOSED

Saturday, January 16, 2010 Posted by Dina

My two favorite foods in the world are chocolate and coconut. Last year, I tasted two wonderful products from Tropical Traditions that are made from coconuts: virgin coconut oil and coconut cream concentrate. Both were delicious, and I was looking forward to trying the dried coconut.

I received a pail of Organic Shredded Coconut for review. What do you do with 3.5 lbs of coconut, you ask? Well, my first order of business was to taste a heaping spoonful of the shredded coconut. It was even more delicious than I expected! It also smells so yummy - I enjoy the scent of coconut just as much as I love the taste. Everyone at home loved eating the shredded coconut, right out of the box - well, pail. The kids also enjoyed a sprinkle of coconut on their peanut butter sandwiches.

My second order of business was to check out the many recipes using shredded coconut on the Tropical Traditions website. I made smoothies. Creamy Coconut Oatmeal. Pancakes. Sprinkled it on salads. Baked it into cookies. I was in coconut heaven! Everything came out perfect, delicious, and smelled great! Shredded coconut can be used to jazz up some of your favorite dishes, or make tasty new ones. There are many other recipes I want to try - the Coconut Chicken Curry Stir-Fry and the Twice Baked Coconut Sweet Potatoes are next on my list.

The dried coconut products from Tropical Traditions are certified USDA organic and 100% natural. The coconuts they use are grown without fertilizers or pesticides. The shredded coconut contains no additives or preservatives, and is not sweetened. Unlike most dried coconut on the market, it is not treated with sulfites to keep it white. Well, it still looks perfectly white to me!

Deal Alert
Right now, all three organic dried coconut products from Tropical Traditions are on sale! Until tomorrow, January 17, you can take your pick from the shredded coconut I reviewed, the coconut flakes, or coconut chips - all at 50% off! Each comes in a gallon re-sealable pail - and you can snack, bake, top and garnish to your heart's content.

If you decide to buy the shredded coconut or anything else from Tropical Traditions, as a first-time customer you can get a FREE Virgin Coconut Oil book with purchase. Find out all about coconut oil and its uses! Just use code 5251001 in the Referred by a Friend section and the book will be added to your order at no charge.

The Giveaway
Tropical Traditions are generously giving away a one gallon pail of Organic Shredded Coconut to a lucky reader of this blog!

To enter, please take a look at the Tropical Traditions product line and tell me what interests you the most.

For extra entries, do any or all of the following:
  • subscribe to Tropical Traditions' newsletter - you'll know all about their specials, sales and promotions - and get 2 entries;
  • check out the free coconut recipes here and tell me which one you'd like to try;
  • follow me on twitter and tweet about this giveaway – you can do this once a day, feel free to copy and paste: "Win #organic shredded coconut 3.5 lbs from Tropical Traditions! #eco #giveaway ends 1/26 @troptraditions @aitmama http://tinyurl.com/yfunylj";
  • follow Tropical Traditions on twitter;
  • go here for additional ways to get extra entries.
The deadline to enter is January 26, 2010, 11:59pm EST. A winner will be randomly selected and notified by e-mail. They will have 72 hours to get back to me, or an alternate will be chosen. Open to those with mailing addresses in the U.S. or Canada. The winner will receive their prize directly from the sponsor.

Disclaimer: Tropical Traditions provided me with a free sample of this product to review, and I was under no obligation to review it if I so chose. Nor was I under any obligation to write a positive review or sponsor a product giveaway in return for the free product.

Il Divo: The Christmas Collection Review and Giveaway (Ends 1/24) CLOSED

Saturday, January 09, 2010 Posted by Dina

I enjoy listening to Christmas music - and not just at Christmas. There is something about these timeless melodies that is both relaxing and rejuvenating. When I received the opportunity to review some of Sony Music's Christmas Classics collections, I knew I was in for a real treat! Beautiful music knows no season.

The Il Divo: The Christmas Collection DVD is part of the Yule Log Edition series from Sony Music and Legacy Recordings. The Yule Log collection is perfect for entertaining, or to enjoy during a quiet evening at home with your family. In addition to listening to some wonderful music, you can choose from three festive scenes (snowy mountain cabin, burning yule log, or Christmas tree) to display on your TV or computer screen while the music plays. You can read more about the scenes in my review of The Three Tenors Christmas DVD.

This DVD consists of 10 songs from the renowned quartet that includes talented performers David Miller, Carlos Martin, Urs Buhler, and Sebastien Izambard. This is a truly multinational group - the singers are  Ameican, Spanish, Swiss, and French, respectively. Their Christmas collection is performed with musical mastery and passion that would be enjoyed equally by their fans and by those who are introduced to Il Divo for the first time. Some of my faves are their version of Over the Rainbow, Ave Maria, Rejoice, and Silent Night.

Here is the track list:
1. O Holy Night
2. White Christmas
3. Ave Maria
4. When a Child Is Born
5. Adeste Fideles (O Come All Ye Faithful)
6. Over the Rainbow
7. Panis Angelicus
8. Rejoice
9. Silent Night
10. The Lord's Prayer

I loved listening to this album, even though Christmas is now over. It does not have to be December 25 to enjoy a beautiful music collection, and Il Divo's DVD is just that.

The Giveaway
One reader of my blog will win a copy of the same DVD I reviewed - Il Divo: The Christmas Collection! Whether you like to prepare for Christmas months in advance, or enjoy Christmas music all year round, here is your chance to keep the musical spirit of the holidays all year round.

To enter, please comment below what music you like.

For extra entries, do any or all of the following:
  • follow me on twitter and tweet about this giveaway – you may do this once a day, feel free to copy and paste:  "Win Il Divo The Christmas Collection DVD! #giveaway ends 1/24 @aitmama #win http://tinyurl.com/yfo4t2r";
  • go here for additional ways to get extra entries.
The deadline to enter is January 24, 2010, 11:59pm EST. The winner will be randomly selected and notified by e-mail. They will have 72 hours to get back to me, or alternates will be chosen. Open to those with mailing addresses in the U.S.

Disclaimer: I received a complimentary copy of this DVD, courtesy of Sony Music. This review reflects my personal opinion and is unaffected by the free nature of the product.

Recently, I was introduced to the Yule Log Editions DVDs, courtesy of Sony Music and Legacy Recordings. These DVDs feature a variety of talented musicians performing Christmas music. They also provide the perfect holiday ambience - in addition to listening to some wonderful music, you can choose from three festive scenes (snowy mountain cabin, burning yule log, or Christmas tree) to display on your TV or computer screen while the music plays.

I received Christmas Classics: The Yule Log edition, featuring The Three Tenors. I am a long-time fan of Placido Domingo, Jose Carreras and Luciano Pavarotti - the world-famous opera singers who comprise this trio. This collection includes 21 tracks, some performed by all three, others by one or two of the tenors. The three holiday scenes on the DVD are beautiful - my favorite is the Classic Yule Log that creates the illusion of a real fireplace in the room, even though it's just on your screen. The Snowy Cabin takes you to a romantic, warm cabin with hospitable lights, nesting in the snow among the pine trees of some faraway woods. And The Cozy Cottage brings you inside that cabin, letting you observe the Christmas tree lights, the burning fire, and the snow and winter wonderland through the window.

The songs performed by The Three Tenors include lyrics in Italian, German, English, and Spanish, and the languages alternate effortlessly. The language does not really matter, though - the timeless music can be enjoyed whether you know the words or not, whether you celebrate Christmas or not. It does not have to be December to take pleasure in this collection, it can truly be enjoyed all year.

Here is a complete list of the tracks:
1. Cantique De Noel (O Holy Night)
2. Adeste Fideles
3. Ave Maria, Dolce Maria
4. Wiegenlied (Brahms)
5. Oh Tannenbaum
6. Tu Scendi Dalle Stelle
7. Amazing Grace
8. White Christmas
9. Dormi, O Bambino
10. Silent Night
11. Pregaria
12. Susani
13. Happy Christmas / War Is Over
14. Wiegenlied (Strauss, Dehmel)
15. Carol of the Drum
16. La Virgen Lava Panales
17. I'll Be Home for Christmas
18. Sleigh Ride
19. Winter Wonderland
20. Un Nuevo Siglo
21. Feliz Navidad

From the somber O Holy Night through Amazing Grace, Ave Maria, Oh Tannenbaum, to the joyful Feliz Navidad, every song in this album helps preserve the festive mood of the Christmas holidays and recreate the magic of the season with every replay.

Music Review: Yo-Yo Ma & Friends - Songs of Joy & Peace

Saturday, January 09, 2010 Posted by Dina

Album Description
For his new album, the multiple Grammy-winning cellist Yo-Yo Ma, currently celebrating his 30th anniversary with Sony Classical and Sony BMG Masterworks, invited many of his favorite artists from the worlds of popular and classical music to collaborate on a selection of songs - some sacred, some secular, some traditionally seasonal, some simply beloved - connected in their sense of wonder.  Yo-Yo Ma conceived of Songs of Joy & Peace as a universal holiday house party of music "uniting different forms of joy" with the idea of combining familiar material with songs that would offer the listener the gift of discovery performed by old friends and new.

Collaborating with Yo-Yo Ma in the creation and arrangements of Songs of Joy & Peace are:

James Taylor (Here Comes the Sun)
Alison Krauss (The Wexford Carol)
Diana Krall (You Couldn't Be Cuter)
Chris Botti (My Favorite Things)
Renée Fleming (Touch the Hand of Love )
Dave Brubeck & Matt Brubeck/Paquito d'Rivera (Joy to the World)
Dave & Matt Brubeck (Concordia)
Paquito D'Rivera/Alon Yavnai (Invitación al Danzón)
Sérgio and Odair Assad (Vassourinhas)
The Assad Family (Familia)
Wu Tong & The Silk Road Ensemble (Kuai Le)
Natalie MacMaster (A Christmas Jig/Mouth of the Tobique Reel)
Cristina Pato (Panxoliña: A Galician Carol)
Joshua Redman (My One and Only Love)
Edgar Meyer & Chris Thile (The Wassail Song/All Through the Night)
Amelia Zirin-Brown (This Little Light of Mine)
Jake Shimabukuro (Happy Xmas [War is Over])
Various Artists (Dona Nobis Pacem)

My Review
In this album - a real treat for any lover of classical music - a remarkable group of musicians come together to celebrate the joys of the holiday season. Thanks to Yo-Yo Ma & Friends - Songs of Joy & Peace, you can recreate the festive mood all year round.

I received the deluxe edition of Yo-Yo Ma & Friends - Songs of Joy & Peace - courtesy of Sony Music. This CD includes over 20 songs, some with vocals and some instrumentals. In addition to the CD, the set has a bonus DVD with 5 music videos, a 60-minute documentary, and a photo gallery.

Here is the full track list:

1 Dona Nobis Pacem (Give Us Peace)
2 You Couldn't Be Cuter
3 Joy to the World
4 Here Comes The Sun
5 Improvisation on Dona Nobis Pacem (Give Us Peace)
6 The Wassail Song / All Through the Night
7 A Christmas Jig / Mouth of the Tobique Reel
8 The Wexford Carol
9 Panxoliña: a Galician Carol
10 Improvisation on Dona Nobis Pacem (Give Us Peace)
11 Vassourinhas
12 Improvisation on Dona Nobis Pacem (Give Us Peace)
13 Invitación al Danzón
14 My One and Only Love
15 Familia
16 Concordia
17 My Favorite Things
18 Touch The Hand of Love
19 Kuai Le
20 This Little Light of Mine
21 Happy Xmas (War is Over)
22 Dona Nobis Pacem (Give Us Peace)/Auld Lang Syne

The album features wonderful performers, such as Yo-Yo Ma himself, Diana Krall, Chris Botti, Sergio and Odair Assad, Dave and Matt Brubeck, Edgar Meyer, Chris Thile, and more. I loved every single track from this outstanding compilation. The talented improvisations of old favorites, such as Give Us Peace and My Favorite Things, render a new musical dimension to these pieces while preserving the original. This CD can be enjoyed throughout the whole year, reliving the warmth and meaning of the holiday season.

To quote, "It is Yo-Yo's hope that everyone who listens to this album will hear a song familiar, comfortable and beloved to them as well as discover and fall in love with music that is brand new".  He has succeeded.

Reading Glasses Shopper: Review and Giveaway (Ends 1/19) CLOSED

Monday, January 04, 2010 Posted by Dina

I do not wear reading glasses - yet. Still, I have no doubt that one day my arms will become too short and I will be shopping for a pair. I remember when my mom needed her first reading glasses. I took her shopping, and we picked beautiful frames that she promptly misplaced. Since then, my mom has gone through several more pairs - and come to realize that the cheap reading glasses you get at many stores do not last very long.

When I heard about Reading Glasses Shopper, I thought of my mom. She would be the perfect person to help review a pair of reading glasses! We went online to see their selection of Women's Reading Glasses. My mom quickly narrowed it down to a few favorites, and last week we received the Maureen in red.

I was impressed by how light the glasses were - and they looked great on my mom! The color is an elegant shade of red, and the rhinestone accents on the side are a nice touch. They seemed much better quality that the mass market reading glasses I see in stores, and are quite reasonably priced. Right now, they are on sale at $13.56, regularly priced at $15.95. My mom reported that the glasses were very comfortable to wear, and she enjoyed using them. The Maureen are also available in black, brown, and tortoise, and go from +1.00 to +4.00.

Shopping for glasses is easy with Reading Glasses Shopper - you can browse by style, gender, or power - even check out specials, new arrivals, bestsellers, and what is on sale. See their selection on the site, or find them on Facebook. You can also check out the reading glasses glossary and eye health glossary that the company launched recently.

The Giveaway
Reading Glasses Shopper are generously giving away TWO $20 gift certificates to their store to my lucky readers! Get a new pair of reading glasses for yourself, or give a much appreciated gift to a loved one.

To enter, please visit Reading Glasses Shopper and tell me how you would spend the gift certificate if you won.

For extra entries, do any or all of the following:
  • follow me on twitter and tweet about this giveaway – you can do this once a day, feel free to copy and paste: "Win one of two $20 GC to Reading Glasses Shopper! #giveaway ends 1/19 @aitmama http://tinyurl.com/yz5bj9r #win";
  • go here for additional ways to get extra entries.
The deadline to enter is January 19, 2010, 11:59pm EST. Two winners will be randomly selected and notified by e-mail. They will have 72 hours to get back to me, or alternates will be chosen. Open to those with mailing addresses in the U.S. The winners will receive their prize directly from the sponsor.
