Holiday Gift Guide 2011: World Vision Artisan Necklace #Giveaway

Tuesday, December 06, 2011 Posted by Dina N

This holiday season, you could make a difference in the life of someone you never met. It could be a family in the U.S. or a person who lives halfway around the world. Just by choosing gifts to donate in honor of family and friends, you can sponsor a child's education, feed a needy family, even help build a water well with fresh water.

World Vision is a humanitarian organization working with families worldwide to address the causes of poverty and injustice. They serve almost 100 million people in close to 100 countries, regardless of religion, race, ethnicity, or gender. You could make a financial contribution that will provide chickens, goats, ducks, rabbits, and other farm animals to individuals who are struggling to feed their families. You could help build a school, replace a soccer ball made from rolled-up trash with the real thing, build and stock a health clinic, or get tools and training for subsistence farmers.

The World Vision's Gift Catalog offers more than 250 gifts, ranging from $16 to $39,000. Should you prefer more traditional gifts, you could make a donation and receive a piece of jewelry, a set of Christmas ornaments, a scarf, and more. Your contribution would go to the Maximum Impact Fund to help where it's needed most. These wonderful gift ideas are unique and life-changing. Their beauty is the two-for-one benefit they provide. First, you get a meaningful and affordable gift for a loved one. Second, the proceeds help improve the fate of people living in poverty in the U.S. and around the world. It's a win-win.

I received one of these items - an Artisan Multi-Colored Necklace. It's made from semi-precious stones and glass beads. This beautiful piece of jewelry can be worn long or short, as a necklace, bracelet, or a decorative belt. It's much more than a versatile accessory: it helps fight human trafficking. To me, it's a constant reminder of how lucky we are and of our duty to help the less fortunate in any way we can.

This holiday season and throughout the year, please consider making a difference in the world via World Vision.

The link didn't work but I found the catalog through an internet search. I like the idea of giving the gift of Hope for Sexually Exploited Girls. Sexual exploitation is a serious problem yet doesn't receive as much attention as it should.

The necklace is beautiful, thanks for the opportunity to win!

I would like to give a Share of a Deep Well. I have a six hundred foot well, and I know what it is like to have great water. I think other people deserve to have good water, also.

I like that there are gift options for $25.00 or less - 'cause money is a bit tight - and that there are gift options for the USA.
