On Vacation Planning

Thursday, March 08, 2012 Posted by Dina N

I like to plan our family vacations months in advance. We decide on locations, reserve hotels, and buy airplane tickets as early as possible. I have a friend who does the opposite - every year, she books a last minute accommodation. She shops for last minute flights, finds great deals on last minute hotels and brags about getting cheap flights every time.

My friend is single and likes to travel solo. I have to schedule our vacations around everyone's work, school, and extracurricular activities. Spontaneity in vacation planning and last-minute trips are behind me now. But sometimes I wish we could just grab our bags and go... with the best offer.

Are you a planner, or a last-minute traveler? Maybe you are one of the lucky ones who can do both. I just do synchronized vacation planning.

I could never do that because my hubby couldn't just off and go running from work on the spur like that.

Yes. We have to plan our vacations well in advance. I've always pretty much been that way. :)

With work and school obligations, things are pretty planned out around here!

I too would have to do some planning for a family vacation because we don't know until a month ahead when DH will be on work travel and with the kids having school and other activities we usually plan around then.
