aside from military, we have volunteer fire fighters and volunteer rescue squad people in our community. They respond 24/7 for our benefit and there is no paycheck to reimburse them. I totally think they qualify as heroes!

Our daughter has Down Syndrome and is non verbal. Our hero is her teacher from last year who taught Bethany how to use an i-pad. Now she can communicate with people.

I agree with the previous poster librarians are definitely every day heroes inspiring the gift of literacy and education is always a great thing to me too!
As for an everyday hero I would say my best friend is mine we've been through a lot together!
