For"accidents" I just use regular floor and carpet cleaners. I think something made for the specific problem would work a lot better.

I have 4 little gatos so we use all kinds of pet products here. They all eat Wellness food. Use Revolution for flea and ear mite control. And the only litter we use is FreshStep Extreme (you would never know we had 4 cats). And we have a Bissell SpotBotPet for those little messes they like to leave on the carpets (I LOVE THIS MACHINE).

Our Fur Babies are important to us, for "accidents", I use a mixture of vinegar, peroxide and baking soda, it works! For shampoos, I use Natures Own which is chemical free.

When I lived in an apartment with carpets I used a homemade concoction of hydrogen peroxide and water. Very effective. Now all our floors are either tile or wood and both of our pets are very good. We occasionally find a hairball but that is very rare. I did use Spot Shot a long time ago but currently have no need for it.
