#Giveaway: Teach Sign Language with BabyFirst I Can Sign DVD

Friday, December 28, 2012 Posted by Dina N

My kids are no longer babies but I remember well the frustration of being unable to communicate with them when they were younger. Back then, I had no idea you can teach babies sign language - or I might have tried it.

I Can Sign” is a BabyFirst DVD that helps parents teach their babies how to use sign language. BabyFirst is the #1 cable and satellite destination targeting babies, toddlers and moms. “I Can Sign” is just one of the many educational shows you’ll find on BabyFirst – and it certainly sounds like a helpful one. Here is what they say about baby communication:

A huge benefit of using sign language with a baby is that it gives the baby the ability to express important needs. Learning to verbalize is much more difficult, as it involves learning where to place the tongue, forming the lips correctly and controlling the vocal chords. When a baby can express needs by signing, frustration is alleviated which results in fewer tantrums and less crying!

What a fabulous giveaway! I think good presents are diapers (cloth or disposable, whichever they are planning to use) or giftcards so they can get what they need.

The best gift for a new mom and dad would be some home-cooked meals to freeze and thaw, plenty of diapers and wipes, and several nights of un-interrupted sleep!

Gotta say diapers also! Or offer to babysit one night so they can sleep.

I like to give new parents a frozen home made meal for them to pull out of the freezer some time for an easy, healthy meal. Some free nights of babysitting are always appreciated too.

The best gift is your time and help. I've been doing all I can for my son and d-l-l which includes cooking, babysitting almost full time since she has gone back to work and, of course, giving them diapers and wipes!

The best gift is to bring over a meal, or offer to help clean up the house while they take a nap.

For a new mom, if she's nursing, some lanisol and a poncho (seriously).

For a new Dad, the "How to Make a Baby Laugh" book. Only parenting book my husband read cover to cover.

I think the best gift may be the promise of babysitting to give Mom and Dad a chance to unwind and take a deep breath. :) I know when my family did that for me it made raiding 7 kids a little easier. It kind of gives you a chance to refuel. lol
