The recipes in The Digest Diet Cookbook are based on Liz Vaccariello's book, The Digest Diet, that came out last year. The first three chapters provide a summary of the diet and help you create your own 21-day fat release plan. The other seven chapters include 150 all-new recipes, grouped by type of meal. From breakfast through soups, main dishes, salads, sides, and desserts, there are tons of delicious recipe ideas that I'll be incorporating into my family's meals. I've been experimenting with shakes recently and I've enjoyed making several versions of the fast release shake and the fade away shake. The great thing about these two is that they are master recipes, and you can pick and choose the fruit/fiber, healthy fats, and flavorings to find what tastes best to you. I cook often with chicken, salmon, and turkey, and was happy to find a variety of interesting recipes that incorporate these great sources of protein.
The recipes are clearly explained, each including the nutritional values per serving and which fat releasers are used. In the appendix, the author gives some useful tips and menus, including advice for quick meals, vegetarian options, dairy-free, cooking for one, and dieting on a budget. Mouth-watering photos can be seen throughout the book.
