Alpha Hydrox 10% Enhanced Lotion Review

Thursday, February 28, 2013 Posted by Dina N

I've heard quite a bit about the potential benefits of Alpha Hydroxy Acid. More even skin tone, reduced wrinkles, exfoliated skin, and unclogged pores all sound good to me. Potential skin redness and irritation? Not so much.

I was excited and a tad apprehensive to try the Alpha Hydrox 10% Enhanced Lotion because I have sensitive skin. This lotion is recommended for all skin types and ages. It features alpha hydroxy acids which provide the attractive skin benefits I mentioned above. In addition, Alpha Hydrox products supposedly release the glue-like bonds that hold dead skin cells to the skin's surface. While I am no expert to test that clinically, I am all for making skin look and feel softer, smoother and more radiant. Unlike many other products with Alpha Hydroxy Acid (AHA), this lotion is quite affordable at about $12. According to the manufacturer, it contains the highest percentage of AHA available without a prescription.

When I started using the Alpha Hydrox 10% Enhanced Lotion, I expected some tingling. I did not notice it at first but after a few applications, the slight tingling was there. According to the company, this is normal and just shows it is working. After a while, the tingling disappeared but there was the occasional redness. It was not too uncomfortable but it was there. For that reason, I used the lotion only at bedtime, after cleansing my face. The lotion is applied on the face and neck, much like a regular moisturizer. One important thing to mention is that products with AHA may increase sun sensitivity. The lotion can be used in the morning as well as at night - just make sure to follow with sunscreen of at least 15 SPF before you leave the house.

In addition to the lotion I tried, the company offers an entire line of Alpha Hydrox products, including a face wash, cleanser, toner, serum, souffle, enhanced cream, and more.

I have not used the Alpha Hydrox 10% Enhanced Lotion long enough to see major improvements but I like it so far. The lotion seems to work as advertised. Who would not love less wrinkles and better-looking skin?

Connect with the Alpha Hydrox Facebook page and follow them on Twitter (@alphahydrox).

I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.

Sounds like something I could benefit from. As I get older, my skin gets more sensitive.

I would like to give this a try, too. My aging skin needs some "refreshing."

This sounds lovely! I don't really have sensitive skin, but I would definitely like to have smooth skin with less wrinkles!
