Dr. Praeger’s Sensible Foods Prize Pack #Giveaway @DrPraegers

Tuesday, March 26, 2013 Posted by Dina N

I always have fruit and veggies in my house. Some are in plain sight on the counter. Others peak out from the crisper. And then of course I have several packages in my freezer, always on hand for a quick side dish.

Dr. Praeger’s Sensible Foods offer some clever ways to ensure everyone in your family is eating their veggies.  From veggie burgers and pancakes to fish and veggie "chicken", their frozen products are convenient, easy to make, and taste great.

The first Dr. Praeger’s product we tried was the California Veggie Burgers. At just 110 calories each, the veggie burgers have 5 grams of protein and 4 grams of fiber, and no saturated fat. They are made of several good-for-you vegetables: carrots, onions, string beans, soybeans, zucchini, peas, spinach, red peppers, and broccoli. I can actually see the veggie pieces - and these veggie burgers are absolutely delicious. Now I only managed a couple of bites because my kids inhaled the entire box - all four veggie burgers - in one sitting.

Next, I served the Broccoli Pancakes and the Sweet Potato Pancakes as an afternoon snack. Both were a hit with my kids who asked for seconds. I heat them up in the toaster oven, broiling on each side for about 8 minutes. The veggie pancakes come six per box and are individually wrapped for convenience. In the Sweet Potato Pancakes, the taste of sweet potatoes dominates, while in the Broccoli Pancakes, I can taste broccoli and potatoes equally. The pancakes are made with egg whites and are free of saturated fat, cholesterol, trans fat and GMO.

Last but not least, we had the Buffalo Chickenless Nuggets as an appetizer. Since they are hot and spicy, and in our house only my husband eats very spicy food, at first I only made half a box. As soon as we tried them, I turned on the broiler again to heat up the rest. There is a zing to them for sure but it's not too much. I enjoy mildly spicy food on occasion, and these chicken-free nuggets hit the spot. One serving is 4 nuggets and a box has 16. I'll admit everyone at the table wished we had another box!

Now that I've tasted Dr. Praeger’s Sensible Foods, I will definitely stock up the freezer. They are perfect not just for snacks and appetizers but for quick lunches and dinners, too.
