Crayola Turns 110 #spon

Tuesday, April 23, 2013 Posted by Dina N

My kids use crayons every day but I did not know Crayola was over 100 years old! It's turning 110, to be exact. At the beginning, there were just 8 colors. And now? I had no idea, so I looked it up. According to Wikipedia, there are 133 standard Crayola colors, plus more specialty crayons. I think I have at least a hundred of them around the house...

Those 8 original crayons are celebrating that milestone birthday with a special party. The bash will take place at the new Crayola Experience, the world's only interactive Crayola family attraction. Right now, the crayons are out on a colorful adventure to spread the news, and you are invited.

You can follow the crayons on their adventure, learn more about each color and enter to win a trip for 4 to celebrate their birthday and the Grand Opening of the Crayola Experience next month. Visit the Crayola Facebook page and click "enter now" for a chance to be first in line when the Crayola Experience reopens. Good luck!

Information and image provided by Crayola. I will receive a promotional item for spreading the word.

I never would have guess 110 either! I recently found out that someone I work with had entered a name the crayon contest as the kid and won.

I too find it hard to believe that crayons have been around that long, I've never thought to ask an older person if they had crayons. I just thought it all started with me! ha! Thanks! Vicki
