Motor Oil Matters Checklist and $50 Visa Gift Card #Giveaway #spon

Thursday, July 25, 2013 Posted by Dina N

The Motor Oil Matters information used in this post and gift cards have been provided by Motor Oil Matters. Opinions are all mine.
In my neighborhood, you can't get much done without a car. It is possible to walk to some places but mostly, you need a dependable vehicle every day. As someone who racks up thousands of miles per year, I know taking good care of my car is very important. I pay special attention to strange noises and warning lights, make sure my tires are always properly inflated, and have the oil changed on schedule.

Speaking of oil changes, MOM has a handy motor oil checklist to help you be an educated consumer. MOM stands for Motor Oil Matters, the new consumer education and industry watchdog program by the American Petroleum Institute. MOM has been established to stress the benefits of quality licensed motor oils and call on to the carpet those who engage in deceptive practices.

Quality motor oil for your car is important year round. Just between the major summer holidays of Memorial Day and Labor Day, AAA expects to aid over eight million motorists. Proper auto maintenance is key to avoiding summertime travel breakdowns. Ensuring quality motor oil in your car is one way to prevent road trip problems. Service-locators can be quick to offer discounted services to people who are looking to reduce their automotive maintenance costs. Make sure your service provider is pouring quality motor oil into your car before you decide on a cheaper deal.

Connect with MOM on Facebook and Twitter.

I have a mechanic that I have been going to for many years. He seems very trustworthy, so I always go to him for all of my car needs, even the oil changes.

My son-in-law, where I live, use to change our oil. He has not done it in forever so my daughter and I are talking about taking them in to get changed now. It has been 5-6 months for mine but I don't drive it often

I used to actually change the oil in my car myself, but it wasn't easy and it took me a long time. Now I find that it's really worth it to have it done. I find coupons for some local places all the time.

We had a bad experience with an oil change one year. The bolt that holds the oil in the car, was stripped. From then on, my husband decided to do the oil changes. We can't afford to have mistakes like that done.

I follow the manufacturer's recommendation. I go in about every 3500 miles, to a nice local shop, to keep business in the area!

We us the local oil change place to change our oil. Also it is an inspection station for license plates, so we do both when that is necessary.

My husband usually takes our cars to get the oil changes every few months. Sometimes he buys the oil that he wants to be put in and once in a while he changes the oil himself.

Right now my oil changes are free. But my husband generally takes care of the auto stuff. He's pretty good at it.

The dealership ding-dongs covered it for the first year. Now my friend who does car maintenance usually does it. He's shown me how, but I'm inept at anything auto-related. LOL. There is a Fuller's near me that friends say is fast and thorough, and won't break the bank, so that would help.
