Chex Party Mix #Recipe and Despicable Me 2 #Giveaway #MyBlogSpark

Monday, January 20, 2014 Posted by Dina N

My kids love family movie night. Over the winter break, we had plenty of opportunities to snuggle on the couch and watch a movie together. And what goes perfectly with family movie night? Some delicious snacks, of course.

The kids always ask for hot chocolate and homemade popcorn. In addition to those, I like to surprise them with new munchies once in a while. Recently, we enjoyed watching Despicable Me 2 on DVD. Since we love bananas as much as the Minions, we tried a new recipe for Minion Munch Chex® Party Mix. Yum!

Just as other Chex Party Mix recipes I've tried, this one is very easy and takes only 15 minutes to make in the microwave. Check it out below, and then enter the giveaway for a chance to win a Despicable Me 2 / Chex prize pack.

Disclosure: The information and prize pack have been provided by General Mills through MyBlogSpark. Opinions are all mine.

Minion Munch Chex® Party Mix Recipe
  • 2 cups Honey Nut Chex cereal
  • 2 cups Chocolate Chex cereal
  • 2 cups Banana Nut Cheerios
  • 1 cup dry-roasted peanuts
  • 1/4 cup butter or margarine
  • 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup peanut butter (creamy or crunchy, your choice)
  • 1 cup freeze-dried banana chips (or regular dried banana chips)
  • 1/2 cup candy-coated chocolate candies
  1. In a large microwaveable bowl, measure cereal and peanuts.
  2. In a 2-cup microwaveable measuring cup, microwave butter until melted, about 30 seconds. Stir in brown sugar and peanut butter, microwave 30 seconds longer or until mixture is boiling. Pour over cereal mixture, stirring until evenly coated.
  3. Microwave uncovered on High about 3 minutes, stirring every minute, until mixture is glazed. Cool 5 minutes. Stir in dried bananas and candies. Spread on waxed paper to cool. Store in airtight container.
The Giveaway
One lucky U.S. reader will win a prize pack containing a Despicable Me 2 DVD, one box each of Honey Nut Chex, Chocolate Chex, and Banana Nut Cheerios, and a cute Minion USB.

Popcorn is pretty much a classic Family Movie Night choice. This time of year, we like to pair it with hot chocolate. I'll also usually buy each of the kids (and the hubby) a theater box of some sort of goody (gummy bears, M&M's, something yummy!)
